| Ok, I saw this on Aubrey's blog, and I really like purses. I also know that most girls like purses, so I'll bite. Handbag Planet is giving away free purses, and writing about it increases my chances of winning one. (God knows I would love to have a non-diaper-bag purse.) Here goes:

| This morning was the very first time I have ever been in a car that ran out of gas. I must say, Sean has fantastic timing. We were coasting down Monroe, he looked down at the dial, said "I think we're officially on fumes", and the car died. It was lovely. We were actually only a block and a half away from the gas station, so we bought a one gallon gas can (which was outrageously priced. I mean, seriously, $5.50 for that little thing?) and a gallon of gas, and then drove back to the gas station. We ended up being about half an hour late for work, but as novel experiences go, it wasn't too bad. As long as we don't repeat it anytime soon...

| Wow...I know it's been a long time since I've updated my xanga. Mara's gotten so much bigger, and is pretty much walking now. She is also, without a doubt, the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. Of course, one of the problems of motherhood that occasionally crops up is the fear involved. Last night I had a horrible nightmare about Mara, and I just can't seem to shake it. Long story short, I wasn't being careful enough or responsible enough, and I ended up watching my baby fall out of an eight story window. I saw her land feet first and break her left leg, but she wasn't moving, and I tried to run downstairs. I just couldn't move fast enough; I felt like I was swimming through the air, and I had to claw my way past everyone. I was so upset I couldn't say what happened, and it felt like no body cared. Of course, the alarm went off before I could find out if she was ok, and I was really upset when I woke up. I had to check on her five or six times before I left for work, just to make sure she was still breathing. I think more than anything, what disturbed me was the fact that it was my fault; I didn't tell her not to play on the window ledge of an open window 8 stories up, and I wasn't really paying attention to her. This isn't the first time I've had a nightmare about her, and I know it won't be the last; I just wish they weren't so darn vivid.

| Ooooooo....Sean's a lucky little punk. I've been at the library for 61/2 months, and he got his name plate before me. He's been here a week and a half, and he got his first. (On a technicality- his desk is closer to the lady who orders them.) On the plus side, I have a name plate! I'm official! They even spelled my name correctly! Woo hoo! Today must be a good day- I get a name plate, and then the whole campus is getting a free lunch because T. Boone is making another big gift to us today.
Edit: There was no free lunch for me. Over 3,000 people showed up for the free lunch, and they only had 1K hamburgers and 600 hotdogs- and a lot of people took seconds. Gar...

| We are supposed to have our first 95+ weather next week. For weeks, we've had mostly nice days in the upper seventies and low eighties, and all of sudden, summer will start this weekend. Heck, it was below 50 this morning when we left for work. Oy...Mara is such a warm baby as it is, taking her around town is going to be even less fun than anticipated.
